It is a satire of artists because the interpretation of art is always a bit strange. So the author described cat-artis who draw and paint pics and describes what they felt, thought, ... even like when you describe an artist who makes an exhibition - and his art, but the artist here are cats and they are described like human artists. It's very funny but very formidable too. I am sure that not everybody does understand this correct.
One sentence (translated) is like "... because it (a cat-artist) got bad critics last time, it decided to stop painting for a while ..."
Sounds neat. I have a russian-speaking acquaintance living in Germany. She shares on her blog german books she liked and there is a lot of original stuff that utterly interesting and have never been translated from German.
